Get Those Hands Up!

“Get those hands up!” That’s something I’ve gotten used to hearing lately, since I started studying Filipino martial arts and boxing with Master Christopher “Topher” Ricketts. While I’ve always been interested in all kinds of martial arts, only recently did I get a glimpse of Kali Ilustrisimo…and it was love at first sight! Ever since my first couple of training sessions with Master Ricketts and his two sons, Bruce and Brandon, I have been hooked. Here are a few images I grabbed during our last training session. Enjoy!

Wedding ~ Rachel + Tim ~ Point Loma

Rachel and Tim are two champions that are meant for each other! On a day that could not have been more windy, with a sky that could not have been more blue, they racewalked their way down an imaginary aisle on the edge of the Point Loma cliffs (near the Cabrillo National Monument). The scene was incredible with Rachel and Tim standing on the edge of that cliff, with nothing but a sheer drop to the the Pacific Ocean way down below. Laughter, tears, and pennies flowed freely all day, cupcakes were voraciously devoured, and the dance floor was never empty! Here are some of our favorite shots. Shelley + Ravi ~ Engagement Ceremony

We recently had the pleasure of photographing Shelley and Ravi’s engagement ceremony, and we loved every moment of it! It was such a colorful, ornate, and emotional ceremony symbolizing the engagement of not just Shelley and Ravi, but of both their families. While Ravi’s parents could not be there in person, they witnessed the momentous occasion via Skype. Gotta love technology! Brandy + Pancho ~ Zihuatanejo, Ixtapa, Mexico Wedding

We have never been part of a wedding quite like Brandy and Pancho’s. Brandy and Pancho, plus over 100 of their closest family and friends, got ready at Las Brisas Resort in Ixtapa, Mexico. Just a short cab ride away, everyone soon headed over to Villa de la Selva for the wedding ceremony and reception. It is an unbelievably gorgeous and romantic place for a wedding!

Brandy and Pancho were married on a ledge overlooking the ocean, nestled against a thick tropical jungle. They looked into each other’s eyes as they spoke vows straight from the heart and as the sun set over the Pacific. And though the sweltering heat threatened to dampen our clothes and frizz out our hair, and great strikes of lightning and thunder made promises of imminent rain, nothing could have brought Brandy and Pancho down from cloud nine that day. Becky + Jeremy ~ Wedding ~ Levyland Estate, Carlsbad, CA

From the first day we met Becky and Jeremy, the day we chased them around Petco Park and all over the Gaslamp Quarter, we were hooked! From Becky’s incredibly infectious smile, to Jeremy’s rat-pack coolness, to the undeniable energy bursting from them when they’re together…these two are so much fun to be around!

With Becky’s impeccable attention to details, they planned a dream wedding up at the Levyland Estate in Carlsbad. This gorgeous Contemporary piece of architecture was the perfect location. Lea + Chino + Caleb ~ Family Portraits

We recently had the pleasure of photographing the gorgeous Lea and Chino with their bright-eyed baby boy, Caleb! This super cutie is just 2-months-old in these images, but he’s growing so fast. This was Caleb’s first trip to San Diego, his first day at the beach, and his very first Halloween costume! Check out some of our favorites from the session.
