It’s been exactly 1 year since our honeymoon, and exactly 1 year since we took the trip of our lifetime. 1 year ago, Jojo and I were walking among legends at the Australian Open, way down under in Melbourne. It was the final stop in a 22-day trip after first basking in Fiji and then adventuring in New Zealand. We had grounds passes for the entire first week of the Open and got to see most of our favorites, just walking around the grounds, hitting some serves, warming up on practice courts, and fiercely competing in the outer courts.
I’m so bummed that we can’t go again this year, but I’m so happy that ESPN2 is providing decent coverage of the event every night. I just went through all our pictures from that trip and it was fun to reminisce.
This is the one person I was most hoping to see play, but we didn’t have tickets to see many games in the big arenas. Go Rafa! I know you can win it this year!
Jojo was so happy to be at the Aussie Open that he ran onto a court and did cartwheels!
Me being a geek saying “take my picture in front of Margaret Court Arena!!!”
Bigger racquet means more spin and power! Not really.
Juan Carlos Ferrero looks upset after losing a point to David Ferrer. This was an intense match between two fiery Spaniards.
Blake in action…so much fun to watch!
Bryan brothers doing their signature chest bump. They were so good to watch because they worked so well together, probably because they are twins, haha!
Novak Djokovic out on the practice courts. He was one of many stars we got to see up close and personal on the outer courts. I loved it!
Lastly, here’s us at the end of our 7-day adventure at the Australian Open. It was such an awesome experience, and we’d do it again in a heartbeat. Jojo’s been to the US Open, and that’s my next goal. Eventually we want to go to all 4 grand slams!!!
