Tonight, Jojo and I witnessed an unexpected event. We thought we were just shooting a graduation ceremony for CCL’s Young Women’s Leadership Program. The unexpected part was the experience of listening to these girls speak and seeing their hard work and creativity manifested in working with and spreading awareness about non-profit organizations. It was so inspiring to hear them speak passionately about programs such as the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the Miracle League of San Diego, SAY San Diego Social Advocates for Youth, and Shakti Rising.
The girls openly shared their personal experiences with the programs and spoke about how their lives have been enriched by those experiences. They laughed and reminisced about how they worked together as a team. And at the end of each presentation, they warmed our hearts with their sincere and deep appreciation of the CCL mentors and program coordinators. I was so impressed with their excellent public speaking abilities and their willingness to get involved. I feel enriched after hearing them share what they’ve learned. CCL is truly a fantastic program, made possible by more wonderful women who devote their time and energy into mentoring these girls.
You go girls! You are the women of the future and it’s clear you will go on to achieve great things in life.
OK, enough smiling pretty. Let’s see the real you, girls!
Now that’s more like it!
Yay! We graduated and we love CCL!
Becky Lee, YWLP Program Manager, congratulates each graduate as they receive their certificate. This girl wears her heart on her sleeve, and it really showed tonight. The pride on her face was unmistakable. Becky Lee is awesome!
Aimée Cabanding was the planning force behind this flawless graduation ceremony. Thanks again Aimée for inviting us!
