Sabrina & Vince ~ Engagement Session ~ San Diego

Have you ever had one of those days when everything seems to work out perfectly?  When everything seems to fit just right?  Sabrina & Vince are like one of those perfect days where nothing can possibly go wrong or bring you down.  They are like water flowing in a river, or leaves blowing in the wind…there is an effortless joy and a beautiful chaos about them.  I’d even go so far as to say that Sabrina & Vince are not unlike macaroni and cheese…they make the perfect combination and should not exist without each other.

We loved every moment of our day with Sabrina & Vince!  We miss you guys already!

Here are just a few moments from their session.  And you do not want to miss their slideshow!

It’s My Birthday!

Yup, today is my birthday! And what better way to celebrate than by dipping everything in melted cheese and melted chocolate! That’s right, Jojo is taking me out to the Melting Pot. No pictures to post just yet, I want to wait and post all the delicious food pictures we’re going to take at dinner!

Since it’s somewhat of a milestone birthday, I suppose I should reflect back on my twenties and welcome a brand new decade of experiences in my life.  I had so many fun, crazy, and memorable experiences the past 10 years.  College blew by so quickly…so many new friends came into my life that have made a huge impact on me…so many amazing learning experiences.  Just as college is about to end, as I’m dragging my feet and delaying its end, I reconnect with Jojo after 3 years of no contact….instantaneously we combust…absolute connection…picked up right where we left off. Suffice it to say, Jojo is my partner, my rock, my motivation, my compass, the balance to my impulsive spontaneity, the logic to my raw emotion, the Vulcan to my Klingon, my equal in mind and soul, my laughter and joy, my light in the dark.  I am not whole without him.  There was do doubt in my mind that he was the one, the one with whom I could envision my entire life’s journey, with all its wonders and hardships. Oops, tangent! Where was I?

Oh, career life is kind of a blur…my life is seriously not about any 9-5 job I’ve ever had…which is why I skip directly to 1 year ago today.  June 17, 2008, the day I turned 29, was the day we officially announced the start of our wedding photography business, Felici Photography. Here’s our very first blog post.  It’s really cool looking back on that statement: “I’m looking forward to June 17, 2009 to see how far we can take this (and to celebrate the big 30)!”  Now that this day is here, and I think about how far we’ve taken this business, I feel overwhelmed with happiness.  We could not be luckier to have the success we’ve had for our first year in wedding photography.  We’ve both worked very hard, and to see the results thus far is amazing.  All I can say at this point, is that I am looking forward to June 17, 2010 to see how much farther we can take this!  LOL!  I have even higher hopes, bigger dreams and expectations, and so much more I want to learn. I can hardly wait!

Wedding ~ Liz & Eric ~ Orfila Vineyards and Winery

The Orfila Vineyards and Winery in Escondido is one of the prettiest and most romantic settings…and the perfect place for Liz & Eric to get hitched!  Liz and Eric’s day was full of love and laughter, wine and sunshine, tears and cheers, and so much creativity!  Delicate touches like the vegetable centerpieces, the twinkling lights, and even their dog Toby doing a great job as the ring bearer…everything was uniquely Liz and Eric.  It’s undeniable, Liz and Eric are so deep in love.  It’s unabashed, giddy, and unconditional love!

As promised, here are some super fun images from Liz and Eric’s wedding!  Don’t forget to click here to see the slideshow!

Just a few detail shots from the reception. I love the vegetable centerpieces!  The rocks are symbolic of good thoughts and best wishes for the couple.  And did you notice the table numbers…binary code!  Brilliant!

Where Have You Been?!

Life has been super hectic lately, so I thought I’d give the world an update (in case anyone is listening).  The biggest news of late…we are getting ready for a big move!  We’ve needed more space for a long time now, and we are so excited to plan our new space so it fits us like a glove!

In other news, not that it’s really worth mentioning, but I’ll be turning 30 next week (yikes!).  I’ve always heard 30 is one of those milestone birthdays, people freak out and do crazy things to commemorate (aka avoid) the occasion.  I’m not freaking out in the slightest, should I be worried about that?  And I’m not feeling some dire need to jump out of a plane, should I be?  What did all of you do for your 30th birthday?  Or, if you’re still a youngling, what would you do on your 30th?

Maybe I’ll celebrate it in another city since we are trekking up to San Francisco at the end of this month.  We’ve got 2 weddings up there…so excited!  Anyway, I’m open to suggestions on how to usher in a new decade of my life.

In the meantime, enjoy some images we took just for fun of Kimberly and Wesley.  Check back for Liz & Eric’s wedding photos…coming very soon

Wed Zeppelin ~ Live! at the Abbey! … aka Kathy & Ben ~ Engaged!

Kathy & Ben’s engagement session was so kickass!  This was by far our most unique shoot ever!  A few months ago, we met up with Kathy and Ben to brainstorm some ideas for their shoot.  Our jumping off point was their super creative wedding website: Wed Zeppelin, the Peterson/Valdoria Wedding Experience (check it out!).  Their entire wedding is going to be like a live rock show, starring none other than Kathy & Ben!  So we knew these photos had to rock.  We shot downtown at the Spreckels Theatre, than later on at a recording studio, which was completely awesome!  She grabbed her guitar and he snatched up his drum sticks and they ROCKED!!!  Check them out here, and click here for the slideshow. “TIL DEATH DO THEY ROCK!”

Extreme Relaxation in Palm Springs

Yes I know, the title is a bit contradictory.  How can one be relaxed while being EXTREME at the same time?  What can I say, I love oxymorons!  And this really is the best way to describe my weekend of good friends and good food in Palm Springs. I got together with a few girls from high school, which was a looong time ago, who I haven’t seen in years.  The reason for this sudden get-together in 108 degree dry heat?  We’re all turning 30 this year!!!  Plus, we all needed a break from our hectic schedules to just sit back and do nothing.

The four of us drove up to the Colony Palms Hotel in Palm Springs…it was very cute, quiet, and plush.  Several decadent meals and rays of sunshine later, we were back in San Diego feeling revived and refreshed.  I highly recommend that everyone take a day off to just relax and decompress, it really does wonders!  Just for fun, here are a few photos from the weekend.

I took my friend Mignon to Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach, we met this slovenly fellow:

Hungry as usual, here’s me stuffing my face with paella at Costa Brava in Pacific Beach.  This restaurant, btw, is awesome! Food is delicious, hospitality is wonderful, I felt like I flew to Spain for the night!  Thanks for the photo Mignon!

These feet were stomping so fast:

I highly recommend Costa Brava for a great night out.  So that wraps up my weekend of extreme relaxation.  Now it’s back to working out, eating healthy and in moderation, and editing editing editing!!!  I’ll be back soon with photos of our latest engagements and weddings!
